What is Data Communication?

Data communication is defined as the transfer of information from one computer to another via a network, or any other type of medium. Information could range from a simple audio file to text messages. The medium used for transmission of data can be wired or wireless. In order for two computers to communicate with each other, they need an option of linking which is known as a channel or channel.
There are several types of data transmission channels that are utilized in modern networks for data communications. There are three kinds of data transmission channels: simplex, full-duplex, and duplex. Simplex mode only allows information to flow in one direction at a time whereas duplex mode allows both the sender and receiver to transmit simultaneously. Full-duplex is similar to duplex however, it requires that both the transmitter and the receiver be in sync to read the binary data bits of the transmitted signal.
